Rest in Peace
Dim the lights on Broadway tonight. The man who velvetly sang "If ever I should leave you, how could it be in autumn?" has left us.
Robert Goulet has passed away from lung complications. I read the news about his illness a couple weeks ago. He was in hospital awaiting a lung transplant dut to interstitial pulmonary fibrosis.
I remember as a kid, listening to the cast recording of "Camelot" and hearing Mr. Goulet's voice croon out Lancelot's love songs. I was hooked. Later, I had the pleasure of seeing him live in "La Cage Aux Folles". Most people nowadays will recognize him from the Diamond Nuts commercials he did: "At 3pm, Robert Goulet comes and messes with your stuff".
The theatre world has lost yet another great icon. Rest in peace, Mr. Goulet.
