I just got this email today from one of my cousins up in Maine. There have been numerous faux-patriotic, hooray America emails from this person and normally I just delete them and not say anything. But I had to say something about this one. Here is a snipet of said email:

REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of the American Embassies in Africa! REMEMBER the MUSLIM bombing of the USS COLE! REMEMBER the MUSLIM attack on the Twin Towers on 9/11/2001! REMEMBER all the AMERICAN lives that were lost in those vicious MUSLIM attacks! Now the United States Postal Service REMEMBERS and HONORS the EID MUSLIM holiday season with a commemorative first class holiday postage stamp. REMEMBER to pass this along to every patriotic AMERICAN you know"Wow, way to stereotype an entire group of people based on the actions of a few radical extremists. I had to reply to my cousin and give her a piece of my mind about this email. I mentioned that it was emails like this that fuel the hatred in America...and other countries...against Muslims and Arab Americans. I told her that maybe if she did a little bit of research before just sending out more hate, that she would find that most Muslims were ashamed and horrified by the actions of the people who committed these attacks.
I am way off base on this one? I'd like to think not. I just get so tired of all this hatred floating around in the universe and all this stereotyping of huge groups of people.
