Destroying Property

Inspired by a post on Dana's blog, I decided to share a similar story of destruction.

When I was young I went through a big crayon phase. Like, BIG. I used to eat red crayons because I thought they tasted like cherries. Umm, yeah.

Anygay, I also went through this phase of needing to write mine, and my families names, everywhere! So, this one day I was in what is now the dining room of my parents house, but at that time was just known at the "Toy Room" and I was lying underneath this old tan card table that my parents had. Red crayon in hand, I proceeded to write all over the underside of this table. Work of art, I'm telling ya! This thing should be in the Smithsonian by now!!

Needless to say, my parents were less than pleased when they realized what I had done. But I think they were also relieved at the same time that at least my artwork was on the underside of the table, where no one else could see it.

Years later, I got my own desk at home to do my school work. (Apparently having a desk at school wasn't enough for my parents, I needed to have one at home as well!) This desk was kinda old, and made out of really soft wood (pine, maybe?) and it was really easy to carve stuff into it. So I did. I would take my pens and protracters, compasses, etc and just have at it with this desk. My parents tried to paint over all my destruction, but that didn't deter me for long. Soon, I was right back at it, picking away at the paint and reclaiming my artistic glory. The desk finally had seen better days and my parents threw it out. They threw out my art!!!

So, that's a glimpse into my furniture destructive days. Nowadays, I try to take a little better care of my things. Though I really want to do something funky to my plain, wood dresser that's in my apartment. I want to paint it a rainbow or something! hehehe

hehe - my little path of destruction girl! It's a shame parents feel the need to not keep everything from our childhood around to clutter up the house! If so, I'd still have my old Kiss LPs and my outstanding collection of shoddily constructed model planes and cars (I never did the engines - why?! no one could see under the hood anyways!).
